2007 National Winner Visits Brazil on Ag Tour
A sugar cane facility that produces its own ethanol for fuel is just one of the environmental surprises Scott and Kelly Firlus experienced on their ag tour of Brazil, March 8-16 as part of the Environmental Respect Awards World Tour program.
The Firlus', Barb Weiland and Carl Miller, all of Wisconsin River Agronomy in Adams, WI, along with Andrea Klosterman of Farm Chemicals International magazine, traveled to the country to tour environmentally friendly ag facilities, view Brazilian agriculture up close, and share stewardship success stories with colleagues.
The World Tour program, part of the Environmental Respect Awards World of Respect is intended to connect dealers and distributors around the world and give them opportunities to learn about agriculture and stewardship initiatives in other parts of the world and share stewardship success stories.
Each year, DuPont Crop Protection and CropLife magazine send the U.S. Environmental Respect Awards National winner to visit the Environmental Respect Awards Ambassador at their location.

2008 Environmental Respect Awards Launched
Retailers throughout the world, and now vegetation management professionals in the U.S., will have an opportunity to show their employees, community, and industry their environmental stewardship initiatives with the launch of the 2008 Environmental Respect Awards.
The program extends to the United States, Asia Pacific and Latin America regions and, in 2008, entries will be accepted from Eastern Europe as well.
The awards, sponsored by DuPont Crop Protection, CropLife magazine, and Farm Chemicals International, are the agricultural industry’s highest recognition for environmental stewardship among U.S. agricultural retailers, those who serve farmers and ranchers with the seed, nutrients, pest control and agronomic information critical to effective crop production. Through the recognition, stewardship is encouraged among other ag businesses and information is disseminated that provides managers with ideas on improving their operations.
