Representatives from 17 companies covering 12 countries and 5 continents have been invited to Washington D.C. to be honored for their commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainability. These companies are participating in Celebration Week, the culmination of the Environmental Respect Awards program sponsored by Corteva Agriscience and presented by AgriBusiness Global and CropLife magazines.
Celebration Week begins 30 September as the honorees descend on the Hyatt Regency, which has a view of the Capital Building, the site where America’s political business gets done. It’s a fitting spot for the week as many of the participants have the opportunity to visit with representatives of their governments. The U.S. contingent will be meeting with member of the U.S. House of Representatives. Delegates from overseas will have the opportunity to visit their embassy or consulate.
That’s just one of the activities. The ERA honorees will also visit Chesapeake Farms, Corteva’s experimental test facility. There’s they’ll also be treated to a crab lunch. Other activities include a Potomac River cruise and the opportunity to visit Washington D.C.’s world famous Smithsonian Institution and other museums.
One of the most amazing things to witness throughout the week is the transformation from the start of the week where a disparate group of people become close friends by the end. The highlight of Celebration Week is Thursday night, the Gala Awards Celebration. During the evening the 17 regional winners will be recognized and receive their trophies. Also announced are the four Ambassadors of Respect. These companies are taking their commitment above and beyond the high level practiced by the rest of the honorees.
