Ward Crop Services - Union City, IL
In 1981, Lee Ward, manager of Ward Crop Services, was so anxious to make his recent expanded facility environmentally correct that when he discovered his state had not developed its codes yet, he turned to Iowa and Wisconsin, hoping to learn what to do.
In 1992 he was ready to build a new facility and he had learned exactly what to do to achieve his “zero contamination” goal. Why go through all this trouble? Ward told us, “It has been obvious to me for quite some time that if we don’t protect the environment someone is going to regulate our business to the point that we will have to follow their rules.
“Today our customers know that environmental respect issues are a necessary part of doing business It is expensive initially, but our business now offers services and products that are safer for our employees, customers and community.”
