TyWalk - Minooka, IL
An environmentally sound business can be a more profitable business according to Doug Larson of TyWalk, located just north of I-80 and on the fringe of commuting distance from Chicago. TyWalk conducts its agronomy andd grain business with growers in seven counties in northern Illinois, touching some 180,000 acres of mostly corn and soybeans.
Eighteen ground rigs apply crop protection products and fertilizer up to 60 miles away and are kept running by 40 nurse trucks loaded inside a huge two-bay computerized load-out facility. TyWalk also stores 17 million bushels of grain.
“Environmental stewardship goes hand-in-hand with enhancing our business efficiency,” Larson says. “It’s about controlling waste and offering our customers better return on their investment.”
