Lujan Agricola SRL - Lujan de Cuyo, Mendoza, Argentina
Lujan Agricola SRL began selling agricultural inputs in 1991 as a small operation solely owned by Agricultural Engineer Carlos Daniel Jesus Merlo. In 2000, children Celina and Daniel were added to the family project. The company offers more than 20,000 products ensuring it has whatever farmers need to protect a wide variety of crops.
The company is now one of the largest suppliers of agrichemicals in the market. It has a team of professionals covering agrochemicals, fertilizers, seeds, irrigation, hardware, workwear, security, and more.
The company recognized that simply selling products wasn’t enough, so it started offering training on a variety of topics from cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) to the safe use of agrichemicals. That latter training is conducted with 40 clients over two days and includes both theory and practice.
“We do training for customers that utilize the products we sell,” Daniel Merlo says.
Suppliers provide Lujan Agricola with best practices that trainers can share with customers. In addition, the company is visited weekly by an engineer focused on safety and hygiene. Those visits are mandated by the country’s Undersecretary of Labor.
The focus on safety and sustainability isn’t limited solely to the products the company sells.
“We are realizing a change of the interior illumination of all the company to LED lighting. It’s a project to become an energetically sustainable company,” Merlo says.
The company also serves as a collection center for empty containers. It is the only one of its kind approved by ISCAMEN, the local control body that makes the final packaging disposal.
“Our effort is always aimed at total satisfaction, through the vocation of customer service, technical advice, and continuous improvement of our processes and efficiency,” Merlo says.
