Procam Polska - Gdansk, Pomorskie, Poland
Procam Polska was founded in 2004 with the vision to not just sell crop protection products but also to teach. Ensuring farmers know how to use products efficiently, wisely, and safely to ensure environmental respect is the key mission, says Jacek Dera, Crop Protection Department Manager.
Based in Gdansk, Procam Polska has grown to 30 locations around Poland with a workforce of 305 and annual revenue of $140 million.
“We are different. We don’t only deliver the products to farmers — we build their awareness on how to use them better and gain better yields. We are focused on the advisory aspect,” Dera says.
Procam Polska organizes regular meetings with farmers to teach them how to use products to improve yield, and also advises them on what products to use to gain better efficiency on particular pathogens, but not to over-apply unnecessarily in order to protect the environment, bees, and other beneficial insects.
“We must be aware of the environment and serve our customers — this is the only way to emphasize how important it is to be able to enjoy healthy food and the health of loved ones. It’s often assumed a higher dose of product offers more protection, but it does not. It is also more expensive and more dangerous for environment,” Dera adds.
The company also makes it a priority to cooperate with suppliers to prevent illegal products, by checking holograms and informing clients how to recognize fakes. “We deliver products bought only direct from suppliers like Bayer, Syngenta, BASF, DuPont, and Adama with the highest labels standards and safe-handling packages. We have an agreement with suppliers to purchase products with at least 18 months until the expiry date, to be sure that product is of the best quality and can be used for two seasons,” he says.
